CLUTCH TO SHAKE UP JULY WITH UK HEADLINE SHOWS
Back in January this year Maryland maestros Clutch played a one off, twice upgraded sell out gig in London in order to promote their stunning new album Earthrocker. Sadly I was not able to get to this gig, but I have heard Earthrocker which is the tenth stupendously good album from Clutch. The press release which I recieved states that 'The much-loved Maryland four-piece have been honing their live chops for more than two decades. There is no question that seeing Clutch perform is a revelatory experience not to be missed'. This is such a valid statement which I can personally vouch for as I have been blessed by seeing Clutch play live on a couple of occassions. They ARE simply magnificent…..
Clutch have just announced four more UK dates that will be shaking the following venues,
Mon 8th Jul – NORWICH Waterfront
Tue 9th Jul – NOTTINGHAM Rock City
Wed 10th Jul – MANCHESTER Academy 2
Thu 11th Jul – LONDON Forum
Expect all shows to be packed full of heart, soul, and badass riffery! Tickets are priced £15 regionally / £16 London (subject to booking fee) and will go on sale on Friday 5th April at 10am. Tickets for Manchester & London are available from www.livenation.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
The National re due to release their sixth studio album ‘Trouble Will Find Me’ on 20th May. Trouble Will Find Me possesses a directness, a coherency and an approachability that suggests The National are now at their most confident.

The upcoming tour marks the band’s first time back in the UK since November 2011. Alter Bridge toured extensively in support of their last album ABIII, released in 2010. Currently, the band – completed by bassist Brian Marshall – are hard at work writing/recording their new album, set for release via Roadrunner Records this September.
Frontman Myles Kennedy exclaims, "Thrilled to be returning to the UK with Shinedown and Halestorm later this year! I’m looking forward to reconnecting with the part of the world that embraced Alter Bridge from the start."
Rounding out the bill are SHINEDOWN and recent Grammy Award winners, HALESTORM.
Hailing from Jacksonville, FL, Shinedown has been touring in support of their fourth studio album, ‘Amaryllis’. Charismatic frontman Brent Smith comments: “We are truly honoured to be playing with Alter Bridge in the UK this year. We are such big fans of the band, and admire them greatly. Rock n’ roll is a way of life for all of us in SHINEDOWN, and we are so excited to be apart of such an amazing tour!”

Joe Satriani unveils track listing and artwork for new album & UK Tour News
Legendary performer and the hardest working guitarist in the business, Joe Satriani confirms the release of his 14th studio album, “Unstoppable Momentum” in the UK on Monday May 6 (U.S. release is Tuesday May 7) through Epic Records/Sony Music UK. The album was recorded at Skywalker Sound in San Francisco and was produced by Satriani and Mike Fraser (AC/DC).
Unstoppable Momentum dovetails Satriani’s UK Tour which starts a month later on Saturday 8 June at the Manchester Apollo.
After returning from the South American G3 Tour in October 2012, Satriani got down to writing new music over the next two months. As he recalls, “A very prolific and cathartic two months followed resulting in a bundle of new music I was very excited to get recorded.” Click HERE to download the album artwork and read the official web press release.
Eleven songs were selected to record, all of which were “heading in different directions and touching on a variety of musical influences.” With that in mind, Satriani assembled a new studio band, including Vinnie Colauita (Sting, Jeff Beck) on drums, Chris Chaney (Janes Addiction) on bass and Mike Keneally (Dethklok) on keyboards. “The idea was to crank up the energy level of the sessions, and allow for more individual expression from each player. The chemistry with Mike, Chris and Vinnie was fantastic and we blazed through the tracks with everyone laying down amazing performances.”

ANNOUNCES MAY 6TH RELEASE OF NEW ALBUM ‘DIDN’T IT RAIN’; MAJOR UK TOUR ALSO CONFIRMED FOR JUNE
Tuesday 19th March – After the huge success of his debut album ‘Let Them Talk’ on which he celebrated and revived classic material from the world of NOLA blues, Hugh Laurie will release his second album ‘Didn’t It Rain’ on May 6th on Warner Music Entertainment. The release of the album will be followed with a major UK tour. Hugh Laurie tickets go on-sale 9am on Friday 22nd March and are available from www.livenation.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
‘Didn’t It Rain’ sees Hugh Laurie depart the sounds of New Orleans as he follows the trajectory of the blues upstream and into the American heartland. It includes songs dating back to early pioneers W.C. Handy (‘St Louis. Blues’) and Jelly Roll Morton (‘I Hate A Man Like You’) to more recent artists such as Dr. John (‘Wild Honey’) and Alan Price of The Animals (‘Changes’).
“I have resolved to forge on, deeper into the forest of American music that has enchanted me since I was a small boy,” explains Laurie. “And the further I go, the more bewitched I become – both by the songs and by the people I have been lucky enough to play them with.”
Again produced by Joe Henry, ‘Didn’t It Rain’ was recorded at Ocean Way Studio in Los Angeles in January of this year. Complemented with the heart and accomplishment of his supporting musicians the Copper Bottom Band – Jay Bellerose, Kevin Breit, Vincent Henry, Greg Leisz, Robby Marshall, David Piltch and Patrick Warren with Elizabeth Lea and Larry Goldings – the album also features several lead vocal performances from Guatemalan singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno and soul singer Jean McClain who has previously worked with artists as varied as Jimmy Cliff and Sheryl Crow. The album also highlights a very special guest in the shape of the Grammy-winning blues artist Taj Mahal who contributes vocals to a new take on Little Brother Montgomery’s ‘Vicksburg Blues’.
‘Didn’t It Rain’ will be released on CD, deluxe edition book CD with additional content, vinyl, and digital including an iTunes exclusive package.
On March 26th Hugh Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band will perform on the Queen Mary, a retired ocean liner moored at Long Beach, California. One of Laurie’s greatest musical heroes, Professor Longhair, famously performed on the ship at a party that Sir Paul McCartney hosted for his wife Linda in 1975. His set concluded with ‘Stagger Lee’ (interpreted by Laurie on the deluxe edition of ‘Didn’t It Rain’) and was captured on his renowned album ‘Live On The Queen Mary’.
Highlights from the show will be featured in the ITV Perspectives documentary ‘Copper Bottom Blues’ which will be broadcast on May 5th. The programme will follow Hugh Laurie as he travels across America delving into the history of blues and roots music that has inspired his own musical journey.
Having earned widespread critical acclaim for their shows in support of ‘Let Them Talk’, Hugh Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band will follow the release of ‘Didn’t It Rain’ with a major UK tour in June. The Copper Bottom Band’s touring line-up features several of the musicians who appear on the album – Piltch (bass), Henry (horns), Lea (trombone), McLain (vocals) and Moreno (vocals) – and is completed by Herman Matthews (drums) and Mark Goldenberg (guitars).

British-bred blues rock guitarist, Danny Bryant, will release his hotly tipped new studio album “Hurricane” via Jazzhaus Records in the UK on Monday 6th May.
Fans who want to get a taste of the upcoming release can download the free song “Greenwood 31” from www.dannybryant.com/free-download.
Originally hailed as a young guitar virtuoso, and a protégé of Walter Trout, Bryant is building a formidable reputation as a leading British blues rock guitar heavyweight in his own right. Recorded as a power trio, the new album was produced by Richard Hammerton (Manic Street Preachers). The new album showcases the evolution of Bryant as guitarist and songwriter, and bursts with power-fuelled originals, groove-driven up-tempo songs, and soulful blues ballads.
"The songs are the result of hard work and have gained considerable complexity," says Danny. This is evident not only in the melodic title track, but also with the ballad “Can`t Hold On”, not to mention the funky-bluesy “Greenwood 31”, a song that harks back to a similar urgency in the style of Jimi Hendrix mixed with the attitude of Lenny Kravitz.
Inspired by American rockers including John Hiatt and Bruce Springsteen, Bryant looks back on some of his career highlights. “Recording 2012’s live album “Nightlife” was a milestone,” reflects Danny. “Over the past few years we’ve constantly toured Europe, and in doing so, we have broken new ground both musically and geographically.”

DAVID BYRNE & ST VINCENT ANNOUNCE UK DATES AS PART OF EUROPEAN TOUR
David Byrne & St. Vincent have announced details of a long-awaited European tour, their first since releasing their collaborative album, Love This Giant last year. The duo's seventeen-date tour includes three August UK shows as follows:
David Byrne & St Vincent – August 2013
Tuesday 27th London Roundhouse
Wednesday 28th Birmingham Symphony Hall
Thursday 29th Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
Recorded over two years largely at Water Music in Hoboken, NJ, Love This Giant is a collaboration in the truest sense of the word, with Byrne and St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) co-writing ten of the album’s twelve tracks, and each artist penning one song individually. The album centres around an explosive brass band and is propelled by John Congleton’s drum programming.
“There was no delineating what the roles were,” explains Clark of the recording. “It’s a collaboration I’m truly proud of.” The duo also split lyrical and vocal duties on the record, which despite eschewing a traditional guitar/bass/drums line-up in favour of idiosyncratic horn arrangements, presents itself as infectious and modern hook-laden rock.
"Off-the-hook brilliant." NME (9/10)
"A skewed and funky instant classic." The Independent On Sunday (4.5/5)
"Love This Giant is a towering success." The Evening Standard (4/5)
"A dream pairing. An engrossing triumph." The Sunday Times
