Rock and Roll Report TV: Dog Toffee - NME Darlin’
August 18, 2008 by Mark · Leave a Comment
A bitter sweet ballad about the bands love for the fickle tastes & obsessions of certain areas of the industry. Commercial suicide was one observers comment on the comment of this song but the last mention the band got from the certain mag was in 1998 so no worries. Cracking tune! http://www.myspace.com/dtxrockers

Rock Book Review - Backstage Passes & Backstabbing Bastards by Al Kooper
August 7, 2008 by Mark · Leave a Comment
I love rock books. Iām a sucker for biographies, auto-biographies, band histories, rock history and those humongous coffee table books on bands like the Stones and Beatles which you can find for under 20 bucks at your local Barnes and Noble or Chapters on a regular basis. I recently had the chance to read the Al Kooper biography Backstage Passes & Backstabbing Bastards and, not only was it a great read but it made me laugh out loud on numerous occasions, always a positive sign in my eyes.

Cool Rock Doc - Solidbodies, The 50 Year Guitar War
August 1, 2008 by Mark · Leave a Comment
Rock and Roll history has definitely been dominated until recently by the battle for supremacy between the Gibson Les Paul and the Fender Stratocaster. Yes, their domination has diminished somewhat in recent years but there was a time when, as a fan or guitarist you were either a Les Paul dude or a Strat guy.
The film Solidbodies documents this battle and it looks really cool. Check out the trailer on the film’s website at http://www.solidbodiesthemovie.com/.

Rock and Roll Report TV Presents: Dig!
July 30, 2008 by Mark · Leave a Comment
This is a pretty cool rock doc about the rivalry (whether for real or just in the head of Anton A. Newcombe is up to you to decide) between the Dandy Warhols and the Brian Jonestown Massacre called Dig! The brand new Snag Films has made this and a bunch of other documentaries available for free. Look for more rock docs as they are made available.
