Supernova.com Launches Personalized Music Sampler with Gig Listings

Toronto, ON October 29, 2009 — Supernova.com has announced the launch of their new Personalized Music Sampler technology, bringing a custom sample of each week’s top indie songs, live concerts, and gig opportunities to members of their music community.

Users will find a customized music sampler, comprised of artists from their favourite genres each week. They will also see upcoming music events in their area from their favourite indie artists, Battle of the Bandsâ voting opportunities, as well as the most popular events among their friends. This will allow the music listeners at Supernova.com to stay on top of the very latest indie action from their favourite bands.

Bands on Supernova.com will gain the advantage of a personalized gig listing of upcoming opportunities in their area. Based on both their band’s genre and geographical location, the Artist Music Sampler will provide a new way for bands to find gigs, promote Battle of the Bands” voting, and gain exposure for their music.

The Supernova.com Personalized Music Sampler is available to any member of the Supernova.com Music Community, which is free to join. With this new, customized delivery format, Supernova.com’s technology aims to further help indie bands grow, help listeners to find and support new music, and help provide the music industry with the next wave of emerging artists.

Bands each submit one original song to Battle against the others in an online listener-determined competition. Bands can rally their fans and invite new listeners to check out the tracks to try and win the listener vote. The goal is to gain as many votes as possible before midnight on Halloween.

The band with the most votes will win the opportunity of a lifetime – a private consultation with Joel Baskin, president of The Pilot Agency. We are looking for equipped camera people to shoot episodes with our hosts in various locations in the LA area. You must have a passion for rock and roll and a desire to spotlight new and exciting talent. Our dynamic hosts are talented and experienced and we will take care in making sure you have access to the necessary media passes required. This is an excellent way to build your resume and contacts if you are a student. While there is no pay involved the experience is worth it. Internships will be considered for the right person.

Once a week the two will post stems or skeletons of the free demos at www.thepublicrecord.com for people to download and overdub their own musical parts, bass, guitar, vocals, keys, drums, loops, electronics, etc, then upload them back to the same site.  The best submissions will be featured on the site, used in the final mix and credited on the record.  They will be evaluating the best track submissions weekly for 11 weeks for 11 songs.

Anyone with a great musical idea is invited to play a part in helping to achieve true Public Mayhem, i.e. collaborate on the album.  A wide range of formats are available to work with, including RiffWorks, WAV, Logic, GarageBand, ProTools and the Four Track 3.0 iPhone application.

Besides weekly winners there will be a one grand prize which will include performing with Methods of Mayhem at a showcase for the record in Los Angeles.  Public Mayhem, is slated for release in 2010 on Roadrunner Records and like the first Methods Of Mayhem album which featured Snoop Dogg, Kid Rock and Fred Durst among others, this one will have some great special guest artists too.

A charitable donation will be made on behalf of all participants to the MusiCares Foundation®.  Established by The Recording Academy® in 1989, MusiCares® provides emergency health and human services and addiction recovery resources to music people in need.  Whether artists or other industry professionals, MusiCares is there with a safety net of support for those who have given the gift of music to our lives.
