“I don’t think anybody should make money on music”

So said Jeff Tweedy of Wilco (although half-jokingly) in the debate he participated in with Stanford law professor Lawrence Lessig who opposes the criminalization of file sharing at the recent “Who Owns Culture?” discussion that took place at the New York Public Library. It’s obvious that, no matter what side of the fence you are on in this debate, the Internet is at least giving musicians options other than dealing only with traditional record labels which can only be a good thing.
