The band plays with great love and understanding of their high energy Rock’n’Roll, which is played with enough vigor to uplift anything. I am truly smitten with them already, they are so damn infectious. The band took some time out of their busy schedule to chat with me a bit about what they have been up to and what is to come.

Intense Nick: How did Paperback Freud get together and start off?

Paperback Freud: We’ve played together in different line ups during the past fifteen years actually. Two of the guys have known each other since they were kids and the rest of us have joined the ride along the way here in Stockholm. In 2002 we decided to give it a professional go and here we are in 2009 better than ever ready for our second release.

IN: What has helped shape your style the most?

PF: Trial and error over the years but mainly our influences from hard rock in the 70:s and 80:s. Bands with both energy, melodies and attitude.

Paperback Freud All In a Days Work Album Cover 300IN: What are the highs and lows in your history so far and have you any amusing moments that you can share?

PF: The cool stuff might be a f… book by now, but it’s always cooler if someone outside the band tells the story so I’ll let it stay with that! We’re all happy campers and always ready for whatever comes our way when it’s party time. We’ve partied with everyone from Russian mobsters to famous Rockstars and they all remember it. The first album and the gigs trough the years all stand out along the way. It’s a ride that have it’s up and downs but we’re still hanging on to the rollercoaster.

IN: What are your dreams and hopes for the future?

PF: We have stopped dreaming and work hard instead! Where open for whatever comes our way and we are more focused than ever. We’re loading up for the release of the new album and everything around that for the rest of the year so let’s see what hard work and dedication will do.

IN: Do you think that your sound has found its ‘format’ or do you think that it is still developing?

PF: Everything is always developing. Both what we are and what we do. We know what we are doing and what we are good at and we’ll take it from there as long as we all want to and thrive on it.

IN: Apart from buying your music and merchandise, how can fans and followers help you the most?

PF: If you like what you see and hear, spread the word and tell everyone you meet about us, We love to be out there and play live so let your local clubs and promoters check us out because they wont be disappointed.
