Introducing the “David and The Goliaths” Project

A few years ago the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame hosted a pretty cool exhibit on psychedlic music called "I Want to Take You Higher". It traced the evolution of psychedelic music from 1964 to 1969 focusing on the twin psychedelic capitals of San Francisco and London. Not only was the exhibit great but it also produced an excellent companion book called "I Want To Take You Higher" which I reviewed a while back. Well Brian Jenkins, the man behind the incredible online group PSPOT is spearheading the "David and the the Goliaths" project which is pushing for a similar exhibit at the Rock Hall featuring ’60’s garage rock. If this is something that interests you then you have a couple of options. The first is to e-mail Howard Kramer who is the Curatorial Director at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and mention that you would be interested in seeing such an exhibit. His e-mail is hkramer@rockhall.org. You could also e-mail the following departments at the Rock Hall:

Exhibits: Exhibits@rockhall.org
Curatorial Staff: Curatorial@rockhall.org
Executive Offices: Director@rockhall.org

This is a pretty cool idea and even Little Steven is aware of and supportive of it. Not only that but the project will be featured in the March 2005 issue of Discoveries magazine so if this is something that you would like to support then by all means add your voice to all of us who think that ’60’s garage rock is something worthy of an exhibit at the Rock and Rall Hall of Fame. I know that I will be doing my part.
Later.
