Previously, we reported that Yeasayer and the Polyphonic Spree will voyage to Gulu, Uganda later in the year to perform live in various locations and learn about the effects of the Ugandan civil war. The trip’s being organized by the nonprofit Invisible Children, and it’ll become the subject of a documentary film from the French website La Blogotheque, which films bands playing in unexpected locations. More information about the project here.
And now we know the third act who will join the voyage: Lykke Li.
To raise money for the trip, Invisible Children went through the fundraising website Kickstarter, in which Pitchfork publisher Chris Kaskie is an investor. Invisible Children set their fundraising target at an ambitious $20,000, and they’ve already exceeded it, but you can still go to the Kickstarter page to learn more about the project or to pledge money. Those who donate receive a variety of gifts in return.
UPDATE: You can no longer donate via Kickstarter. More info about the project can be found on its website.
