Mountain Goats Life of the World Film Comes to DVD for Record Store Day

Last year, Rian Johnson, director of the movies Brick and The Brothers Bloom and the video for the Mountain Goats“Woke Up New”, filmed Mountain Goats frontman John Darnielle as he sat in a room and played every song from the Mountain Goats’ latest album The Life of the World to Come, which happens to be our #45 album of last year.

On Record Store Day, April 17 this year, 4AD will release the resulting movie, also called The Life of the World to Come, as a limited edition DVD. You’ll only be able to buy it at independent record stores, and only 1500 copies will be available, so think fast.

The DVD includes a custom-designed 12-page book with liner notes by Darnielle himself. If you want to see the film before the DVD drops, it’ll also screen in various American cities this spring. Check the 4AD website for screening dates.
