He sang in virtually every musical genre available to him because he wished to unlike most other entertainers who only sing in one or two. Elvis, of course, was more than just an entertainer but quite an historical figure. He was the one that broke down social and cultural barriers in 1950's U.S.A. making it easier for all artists who followed in his footsteps. He paved the way for Dr. Martin Luther King in the 1960's. He remains the biggest record seller of all-time worldwide. I found the snippets of infornation in the article enlightening. We will never see the likes of Elvis again. He was truly 'sui generis'.
