Record Review: The New York Vaults – Fuel Your Fascination (unsigned)

This is good shit. I first came across the New York Vaults on MySpace (and wrote about it the night I discovered them) and was immediately struck by 2 things – they stated that their influences included Iggy and the Stooges and the MC5 and those great background vocals on “Stoned Faces”, a track that I have probably played about 50 times in the last week and a half.

This is pure, unadulterated rock ‘n roll. From the kick you in the gut opening of “Three Song Queen” to the best organ intro since Ozzy’s Mr. Crawley on “Motor City Overture” to the aforementioned “Stoned Faces” and on to the great “Overload” this CD is great. I can only imagine what these guys are like live. A great CD for those who like their rock and roll straight up with no filler, this was a treat to discover and another prime candidate for the “increase the volume on the stereo” award. Hell, I’m listening to it while writing this review and not ‘cause I have to. Get it.
