Sixteen years ago today, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was found dead of a self-inflicted wound in his Seattle home, silencing one of the most powerful voices in rock history at the age of 27. A decade and a half after his death, Cobain is still one of the greatest rock icons and his music continues to influence an innumerable amount of bands.
In the past year alone, Nirvana fans have seen the release of Live at Reading and a reissue of debut album Bleach. The Cobain biopic based on Charles Cross’ Heavier Than Heaven is in the works, and Cobain even sparked a full-scale controversy when his avatar rocked to Bon Jovi in Guitar Hero.
