Rock Princess’ Unsigned Pick of the Week is Age of Daze

Formed in May 2003 in Fredericton New Brunswick-based AGE OF DAZE has definitely found their groove. For the past two years the band has settled into a powerful quintet consisting of Tim Morrison – lead vocals/guitar, Matt McLaughlin – bass/backing vocals, Jamie Norrad – lead guitar, Jon Price – rhythm guitar and drummer Pat Pelletier.

This incredibly hard working band has the vision, focus and dedication to take the rock world by storm – and make no mistake, they are well on their way! Since debuting with a self-titled EP back in March 2006, band recognition has been swift. Wasting no time, AGE OF DAZE recorded their next project HOLLYWOOD ENDING in June of 2007 at the Pocket Studios in Toronto, with Mike Turner (OLP) engineering. The eight (8) track album was then mixed by Dean Maher (Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Hedley) at Hipposonic Studios in Vancouver, BC and mastered by Chris Potter in Vancouver, BC.

However the band’s commercial success has especially been noted at radio, with their first single AFFLICTED breaking the Top 20 Rock charts in Canada – landing at #18 on Mediabase, and #17 on BDS thanks to the support of radio stations from coast to coast. AFFLICTED’s success on satellite radio has been even more astounding given their indie status; reaching #1 on Sirius Octane Rock 20 Countdown for two (2) weeks and remaining on the Countdown for a total of twenty-nine (29) weeks – the majority of that time ranked in the Top 10. AFFLICTED also attained the status of “most spun track” on Octane for a total of eight (8) weeks during that same period.

After signing a management deal with HigherGround Entertainment Group Inc. in February of 2008, and securing legal representation with Chris Taylor of TAYLOR MITSOPULOS BURSHTEIN, the band gained considerable traction in Ontario, showcasing during CMW & NXNE, and over the summer months performing during Wakestock 2008, as well as for the 3rd Annual Y108 Rock’n’Roll Picnic in Hamilton.

AGE OF DAZE had originally self-distributed their music through CD BABY (iTunes Worldwide, Napster, Rhapsody, PayPlay etc) with great success; selling their songs not only in surprisingly large quantities (over 35,000 units from November 2007 – July 2008), but to fans from all over the globe (Portugal, England, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Australia and the United States). Now signed with Fontana North Distribution in Canada, and having just released HOLLYWOOD ENDING in partnership with HGE Group Inc. and FND on August 19th – the band is looking forward to reaching their Canadian audience, both physically and digitally.

Adding momentum to the band’s success, the video supporting their first single AFFLICTED is getting rave reviews by viewers, reaching the #2 spot on PunchMuch for most requested video (that’s PAID requests) in its first week on air; outranking the likes of Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Bros, Slipknot and Metallica! The video was directed by Todd Hamacher and produced by Davin Black of TwoThreeFive Films of Toronto, ON (Theory of a Deadman, Bedouin Soundclash, City & Colour). The video was also premiered on tunelabmusic. com in the USA, and had 762 unique hits in its first week.

Obviously AGE OF DAZE has hit the ground running. With its second single OVERRATED having just been serviced to radio in Canada, and added in heavy rotation on Sirius Octane on satellite radio in the US as of September 20, 2008, the planning of a second video, and scheduling for a Canadian tour this Fall, the band is certain to gain even more steam – here at home, south of the border and abroad.

So there you have it guy’s and gals….This Band is going places, and I believe they deserve to be signed, and the followers and Rave reviews they get say the same……

Don’t forget to request Age Of Daze!!!

Have a wicked week….
