This week, RockAngel’s Weekly Radar brings you the hard-hitting punk influenced sound of San Diego native Buckfast Superbee. Just coming off a national tour, they are making their way back to their hometown this weekend to literally “rock the Casbah” (http://casbahmusic.com).
Buckfast’s music sounds like the lovechild of Unwritten Law, Jane’s Addiction and Rise Against with an original twist and their live show brings just as much energy as any of those bands. The music will keep you rocking, but they go one step further and bring in meaningful lyrics that weave their way around catchy electric guitars riffs.
Their latest album Turn Of The Radio Age is a roller coaster of expressive electricity that keeps you intrigued from beginning to end. “Tilt-O-Whirl” is probably the most popular single, and rightfully so the drums pull you in from the beginning and you can’t help but sing along after a few listens. “Automatic” is reminiscent of the nostalgic feeling you get from bands like Rise Against. If you’re looking for a new rock anthem, check out “The Heavy Persuader “, you won’t be disappointed.
Buckfast Superbee is barely a blip now, but look for them to be making some serious frequencies in the months to come as the nation gets a taste of this rock and roll treat.
