SAN FRANCISCO – GET READY TO SHINDIG
June 21, 2006 by Mark Boudreau
The Bandwidth Shindig set for August 17-20, 2006
SAN FRANCISCO, CA What¹s a Shindig, you ask? It’s music. It’s new
gadgets. It’s a chance to see bands, and experience some of the latest
technologies. It will be panels on podcasting, promoting your band
digitally, and other timely topics. And it will be a huge music/technology
expo.
The event is set to kick off on August 17 with an evening that celebrates
music technologies of the past, such as 8-tracks, vinyl and music videos.
³
The Bandwidth Shindig opening night is a fun reminder that music and
technology have always gone hand-in-hand,² says co-producer Ashli Lewis.
The Bandwidth Shindig continues over August 18-20 with various events taking
place in venues, stores, and other locations, and will include concerts,
exhibits, an Expo and panels. ³The Bandwidth Shindig offers an opportunity
for music-lovers to explore music and technology – where it is, has been,
and where it is going,² says Toby Suckow, one of the organizers of the event
³The Shindig is a chance for people to see new technologies in action,
whether they are listening to a talk on gadgets or watching a band integrate
technology into their live show.²
On Saturday, August 19, The Bandwidth Shindig Expo will take place at the
Grand in San Francisco. It¹s free and open to the public and will feature
exhibits from companies on the cutting edge of music and technology. There
will also be panel discussions for musicians held by experts who will
explain how to record, promote and market your band. The panels feature
speakers from record labels, nightclubs, music magazines, and companies such
as CNET and CD Baby.
Concerts in various nightclubs are also slated for the evenings of August 18
and 19, with details to be announced shortly. The Apple Store in downtown
San Francisco will also be the site of a series of panels, as well as
performances by artists who incorporate iPods into their act, such as
onelinedrawing¹s Jonah Matranga, who will perform Saturday, August 19th.
The Bandwidth Shindig, is open to the public with free or varying
admissions, and further information can be found at
