The Black Crowes are back!

The Black Crowes were always one of my favourite bands. They had their rock and roll swagger and chops honed to a “T” and they were always good for a tune and a quote so it is nice to see that they have reconvened for a full 30 date North American tour according to Total Rock. I don’t care if you think they are retro or if Chris Robinson is an asshole, the Black Crowes to me are a fine example of straight ahead funky rock and roll in the “Exile on Main Street” meets Grateful Dead vein and I am glad that they are back. 1. You forgot to mention they’ve restored Marc Ford [Southern Harmony – 3 Snakes] to the band replacing the too loud Audley Freed…

I am going to miss Steve Gorman’s inventive drumming [see ‘Wiser Time’ from Amorica]… Still, I’ll pay to see them again.

  2. I love your performance at civic center, OKC, OK. after the bombing. You got us back on 0ur feet. I sure hope yall will come back. Thanks again I for one sure have missed you. You guys rock!! Hope yall are well.

  3. Freed “too loud”??? The Crowes were lucky to get one of the most under-rated players in the business for a couple of yrs.

  4. BTW, Steve Gorman DID rejoin the band along with Marc Ford. This is pretty much the “classic” line-up (with the exception of Johnny Colt, who left in ’97 and is now playing bass for TRAIN…. no, seriously).

I just saw the Crowes during a couple of their Florida shows and it was incredible. Visit for torrents of their shows.
