The power of the mix tape

Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth writes a great piece for Wired on the power of the mix tape called The Best 90 Minutes of My Life. Although the technology has changed, the allure of creating and listening to good “mix tapes” remains. Very cool and so true. They are literally snapshots in time. I was going through a bunch of mix tapes I have in a box in the garage recently and you can almost smell the summer air while listening to them as most of them were created for various barbeques and trips to cottages as I was growing up. They brought back memories of backyard and basement parties and cleaning a house with a massive hangover the next day. And the music still holds up! Guess I should burn them to CD before the tapes get hopelessly muddy.
Later.
