The Rock and Roll Report Band of the Week is Sore On Sunday

(As we continue our look back at some previous Bands of the Week this one is from November 17, 2008)
Da Yooper’s Can Rock
Sore On Sunday was originally a weekend bar band that started playing shows together in 2006. Soon the boys grew tired of their bar band reputation and lead vocalist, Tyler Henderson, suggested they begin to write and produce their own music. SOS’s first single, Loser, was immediately snatched up by local radio stations and really introduced the band to a greater fan base. After the release of their first single, came a 10 track demo in late 2007. Recently, Sore On Sunday has gained a third guitarist, Drew LaVacque and are in the process of finishing up a brand spankin’ new album. These strapping young Yooper’s: Tyler, Jason, JP, Eric, and Drew, are without a doubt one of the Upper Peninsula’s most rockin’ musical talents.
These boy’s are no joke, they are real rock and roll in your face fellows, and they aren’t afraid to let everyone know it. “I don’t hold back much when I write,” says Tyler, which is a vital ingredient for great music. They’ll say whats on their minds and don’t give a rat’s rump who objects to it. Check it out, their newest single “8 Days A Week”, it speaks for itself. Not to mention “The Drunk Song”, who hasn’t been there before, right? Real lyrics that get down to the nitty gritty, not always so pretty, real life circumstances that we’ve all endured.
But don’t focus all of your attention on the lyrics, Sore On Sunday is extremely jam-worthy. The guitar is phenomal and when you throw Jason in on the drums and JP on the bass, theres no question that these boys are the total package. Keep a look out for their new album, it’s coming rreeaaaal soon, and if you’re in the neighborhood, don’t be shy, drop by a local bar and say “hi”. SOS will be at the infamous Hereford and Hops in Escanaba, Michigan the night before Thanksgiving. What a better way to express thankfulness to a loved one than takin em out to a Sore On Sunday show and downin’ a few cold ones? Hmmmm? I don’t think there is any.

This band is overated! Lead singer sounds the same on every song they cover, can’t adapt to different styles, some other bands in the UP are better!
Jim? Can’t adapt to different styles?, obviously you haven’t heard the cd yet. I guess you’re not a good band if you don’t have haters?
