Hailing loud and proud from the land down under, Australian power rock band Tracer has just released their second full length album titled ‘El Pistolero’. Produced by Kevin Shirley who has also worked with Led Zeppelin, Rush and Iron Maiden to name just a few. Readers of Classic Rock magazine and listeners of Planet Rock should already know just how good Tracer’s sound is. Since forming in 2003 the band has released a three track album Into The Night in 2006. You can check this out and also get yourself a free download of this on the bands Bandcamp page HERE. Ever since then Tracer have been going from strength to strength. In 2009 Tracer released L.A?, 2011 saw the release of Spaces In between and El Pistolero was released on the 6th of May this year.
In the past Tracer have been compared with top-drawer outfits such as Soundgarden, Queens Of The Stone Age, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and Kyuss. Recorded in seven days at Revolver Studios in L.A. El Pistolero is an absolutely superb collection of high octane stoner anthems with biker attitude mixed with all the best elements of classic heavy rock and it certainly marks their own unmistakable identity. From start to finish this album is an absolute belter and well worthy of a 9/10 rating. The only reason that I do not give a full 10/10 is that I find it a tiny bit stereotypical even though Tracer do have a superb unmistakable style.
