Just got the news that there is a pretty cool DVD coming out December 7th by the White Stripes called White Stripes – Under Blackpool Lights. The 75 minute long DVD was shot entirely on super 8 and 16mm film during a Blackpool, England concert giving it a rough retro rock ‘n roll look. The DVD includes all the White Stripes’ essentials such as “Seven Nation Army” and “Hotel Yorba” as well as their covers of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and Bob Dylan’s “Outlaw Blues.” The film is directed by Dick Carruthers who’s most well-known for his films of Led Zeppelin and Portishead. There’s going to be a really cool one-night only screening 2 days after the release in 13 sities around the country sponsored by AMC Theaters and Converse. The screenings will feature exclusive footage not on the DVD as well as special screening only merch and the only opportunity to see Jack and Meg rock on a screen that big.
