Band banned from performing ‘Louie Louie’

(Cue sound of typewriters clacking away and official news-type music)

We intrerupt your regularly scheduled programming for this special Rock and Roll Report news bulletin. Dateline Benton Harbor, Michigan USA. This just in from the Associated Press and the WFMU message board. A middle school marching band based in this American town has been banned from playing “Louie, Louie” in this Saturday’s Grand Floral Parade because of the “alleged raunchy lyrics” according to “Band banned from performing “Louie, Louie.” Yes folks, in this day and age it’s nice to see that parents are still concerned that the barely understood lyrics of a rock and roll classic written in 1956 by Richard Perry still pose a danger to the youth of 2005. First Janet’s boob and now this. What has become of America?
Later.

  1. In Texas we have just had the House pass legislation to ban ‘sexualy suggestive’ cheerleading routines, though no standards are set… kind of like the old ‘I don’t know how to define pornography but I’ll know it when I see it.’

Americans are notoriously uptight about the WRONG things aren’t we?

  2. Good to see that Rock n’ Roll has the parents frightened again. Gives us something to fight for.

Yeah, MAYBE, but we’re talking about LOUIE LOUIE here, not DARLING NIKKI, not ANIMAL [FUCK LIKE A BEAST], not COP KILLER, not KICK OUT THE JAMS MOTHERFUCKERS, not Nine Inch Nails, M&M or any of that stuff I do not listen to because I hate fake bass beats. We’re talking about LOUIE LOUIE. We might as well be talking aboput I’M A KING BEE or READY TEDDY [‘gonna ball tonight’] or I JUST WANT TO MAKE LOVE TO YOU…
