Band Republic sending record labels into a spin – tell your musician friends
A new company is set to turn the UK music industry upside down by catapulting unknown, unsigned bands into the British charts, every few weeks.
Band Republic is an innovative and pioneering organisation that champions new music and can launch new artists into the charts without the need of major record labels or expensive publicity campaigns.
Normally, a band has to rely on being heard and liked by an A & R (artist and repertoire) talent scout who may then pitch the band to their boss.
99% of new acts never get that far so have to self release their music. But they are very unlikely to ever impact on the charts because thousands of songs need to be sold in order to be chart worthy. However, because there are thousands of Band Republic members who can potentially buy their favourite act’s music, it is a much easier method of breaking into the top 40.
Thousands of music fans and artists have already signed up for this service and the more people who join, the more power Band Republic has.
Band Republic already run monthly nights at the London School of Economics, University of London (both in central London) and Southend with further nights a being added in Leeds, Southampton other UK venues.
Luke Smith, A&R at Band Republic, wants to hear from music fans who want to be a part of Band Republic and UK based bands who would like to play at Band Republic events.
The next event takes place on November 13th at iconic music venue The Kuurzal in Southend where former Big brother housemate Pete Bennet will also be performing alongside most recent Band Republic winners Lazy Baby.
Artists wishing to be considered should send their contact details and a link to their websites or myspace sites to Luke on email@example.com or visit the site at http://www.bandrepublic.com to register or call 01268 494330 for more information
