Lords of Dogtown Soundtrack

As an old school skateboarder (remember Powell boards, Kryptonite and Simms wheels and Tracker Trucks? Still got ‘em!) looking at the line-up for the soundtrack to the upcoming Lords of Dogtown movie made my heart go all pitter patter. I mean Foghat, Deep Purple and Iggy Pop all on one record? I know it’s all nostalgia but that’s damn cool! Plus it features Social Distortion and Rise Against for the young guns so we can all be happy. Excuse me while I dig up my old Sabbath records.

Hey…saw that you are oldskool skater…still skate?

I ride a bowl once in a awhile. Still got my old slalom board from the 70’s with Gull Wings and Hobie XX…

I have a new 10″ fattie for bowl riding…

Cool stuff good reading..

Whats the name of the song that play DURING the commercial…all i can hear is “WHEN WE ALL FALL DOWN”

I have been searching for the song purcell is looking for in the previews…it cant be on the soundtrack…i’ve read through all the lyrics from the soundtrack but I can find it! Please help!

The song that you are talking about is a song by sum41 on their new cd. i think its called ” no reason”

I might be wrong, but I’m pretty sure I heard a song by Neil Young towards the end of the movie, perhaps the “old man, look at my life, I’m a lot you you…” and it’s not on the soundtrack! why would they leave that great song out?

What was the reggae song playing when Stacy and Alva’s sister pull up to the party at Tony’s house? I thought it was Peter Tosh but I can’t seem to find anything.

i think the song your talking about when they pull up to tony’s house is fire by jimmy hendrix…….but im not sure if thats the one your talkin about

Ok, you guys are my last hope. Given that you’ve seen the movie…at the end when the 3 guys are rolling around Sid in his wheelchair along the walls of the pool, a sort of slow song is played and it’s not “Wish You Were Here”, it plays right before that.

Does ANYONE know this song, please??

Hey i gotta find out the name of that song when Jay arrives at that punk rock club amd the guys get thrown out the window. That band… who are they? what is that song??? PLEASE email me back

can someone please tell me the song on the part that jay is dancing to stacy’s girlfriend on the floor.

what is the song playing when he is riding on the bus? it goes “hey old man look at my life balh blah blah blah blah blah cant remember

Neil Young Sings That, But I Want To Know Who Sings The Song When they are all in the car on the way to the competition i think it goes “SON OF A BITCH!” something something, who sings that?????

“Son of a Bitch” is ACDC, now who sings that song when the dude’s goin into the zephyr store and it goes something like “I don’t want you…somethinsomethinsomethin…I just wanna make love to you”??

The song played on the part of jay dancing to stacy’s girlfriend is called ballroom blitz. I’m not sure who it’s by though. I love it and the movie!

ok i know the postings are really old and i dont know if anyone looks on here anymore and you probably found the answers to your questions but: they do play “Old Man” by Neil Young, the reggae song at Tony’s party is “Stepping Razor” by Peter Tosh, Its not “son of a bitch” by ACDC its “Hair of the Dog” by Nazareth, going in the zephyr store is “I just want to make love to you” by Foghat, the voodoo child song in the movie is by Stevie Ray Vaughan originally by Jimi Hendrix, and incase you didnt know the “wish you were here” in the movie is a cover of pink floyd by Radiohead with Sparklehorse

hey…wats the song at the menu of the dvd?..the sick solo…it sounds a loooot like jimi hendrix..but i dont know the exact song

As for Jackie’s comment, it was right on track. All of the artist mentioned and the songs are in exact correspondence. If you are truly desperate to find out the name of the song and the artist that you like…try renting the dvd and slowing it during the credits. The songs usually go in sequence of the movie as they are played.

whats that song in jay and his other surfer friends car when they pull up to stacy and his girlfriends near like the beach. the song is mostly like screaming

at the end of the movie, before the remake of pink floys”wish you were here”, there is a blues song. What is the song and who is the artist?

the song before wish you were here when the guys are skating around sid is, “Daydream” by Robin Trower

First, @G it’s called “Madhouse Madness” by Ted Neugent. The song playing at Tony’s house is not Peter Tosh… It’s called “Fire” by Jimi Hendrix. And the song when the z-boyz are pulling up to the del-mar comp is called “Hair of the dog” by Nazareth.

And yeah what is the song playing at the beginning?

The song at the beginning is not by Stevie ray Vaughan. His version is a rock song…the version at the beginning is way more bluesy….

The version of “Voodoo Child” at the beginning of the film is not Stevie Ray Vaughan, it’s most definitely Jimi Hendrix, just a different version, which I’ve also been looking for.

Some of you have been asking for the two songs that play during the party at Tony’s house. The first one is a reggae tune called “Stepping Razor” by Peter Tosh and the second one, that you may know as the song Jay is dancing to is, “Fire” by Jimi Hendrix.

As for whoever it was that said the song that plays on the way to the Del Mar Nationals, you’re wrong. The song isn’t “Son Of A Bitch” by AC/DC, it’s “Hair Of The Dog” by Nazareth.

For the Nathan kid a few posts up, the song isn’t called “Madhouse Madness” it’s called, “Motor City Madhouse” by Ted Nugent.

In response to ‘G’, the song that’s playing during Jay’s set that skip put on is called, “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath.

The answer to “blah’s” question, the song is called, “Old Man” by Neil Young.

And last but not least, to answer “Dixie Girl’s” question, the song that playing is called, “I Just Want To Make Love To You” by Foghat.

But, one question I haven’t been able to answer is; what song is playing in the background during the scene in Dogtown where everyone’s at the Zephyr party and Stacy Peralta walks up and finds his girlfriend kissing all over Jay Adams?

All I could make out was, “Oh baby,….Oh baby, get out of my song/soul?”

What’s the name of the song playing @ the begining of the Zephyr party when Skip is passing out the magazines?

yes i would love to know what the name of the song is during the party at the Zephyr Shop, it might be the same song the whole time, but im looking for the one that plays when Skip comes toward Topper Burhg and Tony, then gets pushed back by the body guard, picks up a surf board and starts throwing them off the roof. Ive Been Looking for it for 4 Years Now! Please HelP!

For the party at the Zephyr shop – The two main credited tracks are…

Super Stupid – by Funkadelic

Crash Course in Brain Surgery – by Budgie

For the ending pool segment – There are 3 different tracks played (once they all enter the pool) but only two are credited.

The two credited tracks are obviously, and mentioned above…

Daydream – by Robin Trower

Wish You Were Here – by Sparklehorse (Pink Floyd cover)

Normal people can stop reading here.

But for the movie/music nerds – read on.

There’s a track played prior to those two, when they first begin to skate the pool.

In my opinion, it’s just a produced composition they created for that scene.

Although, the opening guitar riff is sampled from the song “Weather With You” by Crowded House.

Some people say it is outright the Weather With You song, but it’s not.

There are no versions of that song, that start with a shaker (drum sound) and has shrieking electric guitar samples. And it definitely does not build into heavy drums and guitar.

Plus, the era of the movie was the mid 70s – The song “Weather With You” didn’t come out until 1991. So, the song wouldn’t have even existed yet.

Have a bitchin’ summer!

The song at the very beggining of the movie that is played when the Z boys are sneaking out to go surf is Voodoo Chile Blus (it is spelled like that) by Jimi Hendrix. Prevview it on itunes and you’ll reconize it.

My bad I meant to put Voodoo Chile Blues. I forgot the e on blues. But it is spelled Chile, not child like his original song.

whats the song playing in the car when jay and the vatos run into stacy and his girlfriend at the beach?

please help!
ive been trying to find this song ever since i bought the movie a year ago.

The song where Jay Adams shaves his head – Neil Young – Old Man. It was covered by a women, I can’t find out who it was at all, will someone please tell me who that was?
