What are your kids doing this weekend? Climbing trees? Playing Wii Tennis? Still shaking their Easter candy hangovers? Tell them to knock it off! It’s time for the Thurston Moore noise lecture!
As Paper reports (via Moore’s own Ecstatic Peace library Twitter), this Sunday, April 11, Partners & Spade, a New York gallery, will host “A Dissertation on White Noise”, a lecture by the Sonic Youth frontman. Kids between eight and 12 years of age are welcome. It’ll set you back $30, and the money raised will go to the art program at New York school P.S. 126. If there’s a Q&A session afterward, we hope someone asks how Thurston keeps his hair so floppy.
The lecture is part of a kids’ art program called Avant Garde Preschool. Oh how New York.
When I was a kid, most noise lectures revolved around how I should stop making so much of it. Times sure have changed. (And yes, we made it to the end of this news story without making a single “Sonic Youth” pun. Congratulations are clearly in order.)
