When I first heard Salzburg, Austria’s Pirate Radio Station they immediately reminded me of Oasis. Same catchy melodic lines, same stand on your seat and sing at the top of your lungs lyrics all sung with a nice hint of attitude by Sebastian Aigmuller on lead vocals and guitar. As a matter of fact, when I heard their excellent track Soul Shine it had that wonderful effect of making me both smile and reach for my volume knob at the same time, a true sign to me that this is a band to enjoy getting to know.
Rounding out the band are Paul Konarski on guitar and vocals, Simon Rath on bass and Rainer Furthner on drums. If you like your rock and roll with a strong sense of melody and where every song can be rightly referred to as “anthemic” then this is the band for you.
Check them out on their website at http://www.pirate-radio-station.com/ or on MySpace at www.myspace.com/pirateradiostation.
And to give you a taste of what they are all about, you can download here the aforementioned excellent track Soul Shine courtesy of the band and The Rock and Roll Report. Turn it up!
