Wanna Be a Rock Star?

The Rock and Roll Report Music Submission Policy

I am starting to get enough CDs to warrant getting a PO Box (stay tuned) but until then I just thought that I would give a heads up to anybody submitting music to The Rock and Roll Report as to what I am interested in.

Obviously with a name like The Rock and Roll Report any music submitted should be rock and roll. Granted that is a pretty big category but you know in your heart of hearts if your stuff rocks or not. There is a good chance that your folk CD, while great I’m sure will probably not get reviewed on the site unfortunately. If you are not sure and you don’t want to go through the expense of mailing a CD, send me a couple of MP3s using Dropload or e-mail me ahead of time at I can have a few listens and then let you know if I would be interested in recieving the whole enchilada.

Another unfortunate byproduct of me being so busy is that I am slacking on acknowledging all CDs recieved. I try, honestly I do but if you haven’t heard from me in a few weeks just send me an e-mail to ask if I recieved it and I’ll let you know.

Finally, if your CD was submitted and you haven’t seen a review it could be for a number of reasons. Most probably it is because I haven’t listened to it yet. With all the MP3s and CDs coming in it is an ongoing battle (but fun!) to listen to all the submissions but I do listen to everything at least a couple of times so please be patient. I will be perfectly frank though, I have an interest in a wide swath of rock and roll but if your CD just doesn’t float my boat I won’t review it for the sake of reviewing it. Since the whole point of the site is to promote music that to me personifies rock and roll I won’t post any negative reviews since at the end of the day it is just my opinion. I’m not into savaging a CD just for the fun of it despite all the crap about the duty of a critic, yada yada yada. I’m not a music critic, just a guy who wants to spread the word about great rock and roll that somehow may have slipped through the cracks so I don’t see the point in negatively reviewing something that others might think is great and which obviously took a lot of work to produce. It does a disservice to us both.

With that in mind I am ready and willing to review what ya got. Pop me an email at and I’ll let you know where to send it. I truly do appreciate everything that people have sent in and I strive to give each CD the respect it deserves. It’s the least I can do. Thanks for your support.
