The Rock Princess’ Unsigned Pick of the Week is The Dirty Love

TAKING influence from old vinyls and anything loud left to fester on the shelf, THE DIRTY LOVE have brought back the days of rock ..n’ roll – but with a bit more bite.

The group found its rock legs in late 2003 under the name “Dirty Harry and The Rockets” where they started jamming in their Shearwater home on the North-West Coast of Tasmania. The band comprises of three brothers Aaron, Mitch and Matthew Damon and long time friend Zac Davis. . The band got its first small break in 2005 when Canadian Blues player Wolf Mail, walked off the street with his band to watch their show. The result was a late night jam session that led to Sydney recording time with the same outfit.

THE DIRTY LOVE’S first EP was a tidy first effort which sold hot locally and gained community radio airplay across the nation. The band continued to travel around Tasmania and across to Victoria and NSW on a regular basis, making new friends and fans along the way.

THE DIRTY LOVE’S popular track Coming Home was added to a compilation disk titled Riot on Sunset vol.7 which was released in stores on Hollywood boulevard and played on college radio stations through out California. The track Blame it on Me reached and remained at 7 on Engage Internet Radio World Wide for three weeks.

In 2007, Dirty Love The EP, was recorded and produced by multiple ARIA nominated Engineer Greg Stace (One Dollar short, Something With Numbers). Just after completing recording, the band secured a national Distribution deal with MGM/Green and iTunes worldwide.

Since then they have played shows alongside Magic Dirt, The Casanovas, The Lazys, The Getaway Plan and Jimmy Barnes to name a few and joined the likes of The Kings of Leon, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Groove Armada at the 2007 Falls Festival in Marion Bay. To top off their dream run they then claimed “Best Rock Act” at the 2008 Amplified Music Awards.

THE DIRTY LOVE have recently finished tracking there new EP titled “Roulette Romance” at Melbourne’s Birdland Studios with Legendary Producer Lindsay Gravina and Whiz engineer Rob Long (The Living End, Magic Dirt).
